Stage 2+ / Hybrid Turbo Upgrades (450–550+ bhp)

 

Once you’ve completed your Stage 1 and Stage 2 upgrades, the next step is hybrid turbos.
The N55 responds extremely well to upgraded turbo systems, and with the correct supporting mods these engines can make 450–550+ bhp reliably.

Typical Stage 2+ / Hybrid Mods:

• Hybrid turbo upgrade (Pure Stage 2, TTE, Littco, MTC etc.)

• Upgraded inlet pipe (recommended for all hybrid setups)

• High-flow downpipe (sports cat or decat)

• Front-mount intercooler (FMIC) – larger core recommended

• Upgraded charge pipe & boost pipe

• Upgraded HPFP (High-Pressure Fuel Pump) for fuel headroom

• Upgraded LPFP (Low-Pressure Fuel Pump) if aiming above 520+ bhp

• Port Injection or Meth Injection (optional but effective for cooling & fuelling)

• Custom ECU tuning (BM3 / MHD)

Recommended Supporting Mods

To safely run hybrid turbos, we recommend:

• Frequent oil changes (5k miles)

• Colder spark plugs (1–2 steps)

• Fresh coil packs

• Strong intercooler

• Upgraded PCV system (optional but helps longevity)
